Great Plains Theatre Conference
Playwright Margaret Baldwin has had plays produced throughout the US and abroad. Her civil rights drama Night Blooms won the 2011 Gene Gabriel Moore Playwriting Award for its world premiere at Horizon Theatre and had its mid-Atlantic premiere at Virginia Rep (2012). Night Blooms has been presented at conferences and in communities in Germany, Georgia, and Alabama to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Marches. Her play Coyote Hour was finalist for the 2015 National Playwrights Conference at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center as well as an honorable mention for the 2015 Kilroys’ List. Her newest work, The Followers: The Bacchae Retold, commissioned by 7 Stages Theatre, is in development at Kennesaw State University where Margaret teaches in the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies. Margaret holds an MFA from the Iowa Playwrights Workshop. She is a member of the Dramatists Guild and the Playwrights’ Center in Minneapolis.
