Josh Hecht (director) is a Drama Desk Award-winning director specializing in new work. NYC productions have been seen at The Duke on 42nd Street (Wearing Lorca's Bowtie), New World Stages (Christine Jorgensen Reveals – Drama Desk Award, GLAAD nomination), Culture Project (Out of Iceland), Theatre at St. Clement's (The Clearing), Cherry Lane Theatre (girl), 13P (The Penetration Play), Ars Nova (The Gay Agenda), among others. Regional productions at the Humana Festival (Slasher), Guthrie Theatre (Lizards...), Signature/No Rules (DC) (The Personal(s) – “Favorite Director 2013” DCMetroTheatreArts), Boston Center for the Arts (Christine Jorgensen Reveals – IRNE nomination), Berkshire Theatre Festival (Heliantha), Axial Theatre Co, and others. Inside/Out, a docu-theater piece he co-created with Ping Chong and Company was commissioned by the Kennedy Center and played the Flynn Center, the Round House, Ameryllis Theatre and in New York at the 500-seat Times Center Stage. He develops up to two dozen new plays a year in theaters and development centers across the country. NYTW Usual Suspect. He is on the faculty of Fordham University's MFA Playwriting program and was formerly on the faculty of the New School for Drama, Purchase College, SUNY and has been a guest artist at Julliard, NYU Tisch Dramatic Writing, the National Theater Institute, the University of Minnesota BFA Acting program, the Lee Strasberg Institute, Carnegie Melon and others.
