Belize Ecology Program

The Turneffe Atoll is the largest and most bio-diverse coral atoll in the western hemisphere. It is also a fragile place, facing pressures from development and climate change. Work alongside scientists to study the resident dolphin population while learning about the islands’ unique ecology. Conceive, develop, analyze and present a field-based research project based on collected data. Learn about Belize’s tropical ecology and cultural history through a visit to the upland rainforest. Explore ongoing conservation efforts in Belize. Seeing an ecosystem through the eyes of the people who live there is an invaluable experience. Through connections with Belizean schools involving their students in scientific research on the atoll, share perspectives and ideas, learn about Belizean culture and gain a new world perspective.
